Chapter 42

Alessandro’s cold, intimidating eyes immediately focused on Rosalie. The education of his daughter was not a matter he delegated lightly.

"Bring them to the parlor," Alessandro instructed, standing up and adjusting the cuffs of his crisp white shirt. "I will conduct the interviews personally."

"Yes, sir," Rosalie replied, turning to execute the order.

The grand parlor was a masterpiece of classic design, flooded with the same bright, natural light that graced the rest of the estate. Three highly qualified candidates sat nervously on the plush leather sofas. They were all white American professionals with impeccable resumes, but the sheer, deeply masculine, and terrifying presence of the Mafia boss instantly unsettled them.

Alessandro walked into the room, his polished leather shoes making no sound. He did not smile. He did not offer pleasantries. He sat in a high-backed armchair, evaluating them with a cold, sociopathic detachment.

The first two candidates faltered under his intense scrutiny. They were intimidated by the armed guards and visibly nervous around the subtle, dangerous tattoos visible on his hands. They were dismissed within minutes.

The third candidate, a young woman named Clara, remained perfectly still. Her fair skin did not pale. She met his cold stare with a calm, unwavering professionalism.

"You understand the unique parameters of this household, Clara?" Alessandro asked, his volume incredibly low. "My daughter's safety... is absolute. You will not leave this estate without an armed escort. You will not discuss your employment with anyone."

"I understand completely, Mr. Rizzano," Clara answered, her American accent clear and steady. "I am here to teach, not to gossip."

Alessandro nodded slowly, his sharply defined jawline relaxing slightly. "Rosalie will show you to your quarters. You begin tomorrow."
