Chapter 18

The silence in the ruined living room was suffocating. Don Moretti stared at the red laser dots resting squarely on his chest. He looked at Alessandro's unblinking, cinematic gaze, realizing there was absolutely no room for negotiation. He looked at Bianca, his own flesh and blood, groveling on the floor.
"Take her," Don Moretti choked out, his voice cracking with defeat. "She is no longer a Moretti. I disown her."
"Daddy, no!" Bianca screamed, absolute horror washing over her fair face. "You can't do this! You can't let him take me!"
"You brought this on yourself, Bianca," Moretti whispered, turning his face away to hide his shame.
Alessandro gestured with his tattooed hand. Dante and another guard stepped forward, hauling the thrashing, hysterical woman to her feet.
"Alessandro, please! Don't kill me!" Bianca shrieked as the guards dragged her toward the shattered front doors.
"I am not going to kill you," Alessandro stated, his tone devoid of any human empathy. "Death is a mercy. You are going to live, Bianca. But you are going to live with absolutely nothing."
He turned back to Don Moretti. "You will transfer the deeds of the southern ports to my holding company by sunrise. If you hesitate, I will return, and I will not be as forgiving."

Moretti nodded frantically, completely broken by the overwhelming dominance of the younger boss.
Alessandro walked out of the safe house, the crisp night air catching his thick, neatly styled hair. He had dismantled an entire rival faction and acquired the most valuable shipping lanes in the state, all without suffering a single casualty. The lesson had been taught, and the bloodline was protected.
