Chapter 15

A heavy, freezing fog rolled off the ocean, blanketing the deserted docks in an eerie, impenetrable gloom. Three of Marcus’s highest-ranking enforcers were busy inspecting a newly arrived shipment of illegal firearms, completely unaware that the shadows around them were alive. The faint, flickering light of a broken streetlamp barely illuminated their crude faces.
"Hurry it up. We need these crates moved to Marcus’s safehouse," the heaviest man barked, shivering in the damp cold.
"Relax, Adrian is too busy crying over his dead whore to notice us," another sneered, spitting on the pavement.
The insult barely left his lips before a dark figure dropped silently from the shipping container above. Dante landed with the terrifying grace of a predator, his combat knife flashing in the dim light. He slashed the man’s throat instantly, cutting off his scream in a spray of warm crimson.
"Ambush!" the heavy man yelled, frantically clawing for his sidearm.

Two suppressed gunshots hissed through the fog. Leo stepped from the darkness, his weapon raised with perfect, lethal precision. Both bullets found their mark, dropping the remaining enforcers dead on the freezing concrete.
"Clean it up and dump the bodies in the bay," Leo ordered into his earpiece, his voice utterly devoid of emotion. "Tell the Boss the first chain is broken. Marcus is completely blind on the east side." The docks fell back into an eerie, blood-soaked silence.
