Chapter 18

"It is a responsibility you have already proven yourself capable of handling," Damian said, leaning back in his chair, exuding absolute authority. "Oliver trusts you. I trust you. That is all that matters."
He stood up and walked around the desk, stopping beside her chair. His sheer physical presence was overwhelming.
"You will move into the suite adjacent to the nursery," Damian instructed, his voice a low, mesmerizing hum. "You will have a dedicated security detail whenever you leave the estate. If any member of the staff or syndicate disrespects you, you come directly to me. I will handle it personally."
"Thank you, Damian," Nora whispered, using his first name without thinking, overwhelmed by the profound shift in her life.
Damian’s dark eyes softened. He reached down and gently tilted her chin up with his tattooed fingers. "You saved my son from the dark, Nora. I will ensure you never have to live in the shadows again."
The transition was immediate. Nora shed the black maid uniform forever, replacing it with elegant, understated clothing befitting her new status. She moved into the luxurious suite next to Oliver, transforming from a silent servant into the most protected woman in the city.

The change in Oliver was miraculous. Free from the terror of Camille and bathed in the constant, warm attention of Nora, the two-year-old began to thrive. He laughed, played in the sunlit gardens, and ran freely through the bright, cinematic hallways of the mansion.
Damian, too, seemed to change. The cold, ruthless Mafia Boss still ruled his empire with an iron fist, but when he returned to the estate, the harsh lines of his angular face relaxed. He spent hours sitting on the floor of the nursery, playing with Oliver and watching Nora with an intense, burning devotion.
