Chapter 20

Julian collapsed onto the ruined floor, his fair, rosy skin pale and bleeding. He looked up at Claire, who stood over him like a conquering goddess of war. The bright, cinematic lighting cast a long, imposing shadow over his broken frame. The master had been utterly defeated by the student.

"You... you can't kill me," Julian rasped, coughing blood onto his tailored suit. "I am his father. I am your creator."

"You are a ghost," Claire whispered, her voice dropping into a freezing, absolute void. "And I am the one who exorcises you."

She did not hesitate. With a single, devastating motion, Claire executed the ruthless warlord, ending his reign of terror permanently. The heavy, metallic silence rushed back into the penthouse, broken only by the distant sounds of the city below.

Claire stood up, wiping the blade clean. She walked slowly toward the heavy steel doors of the panic suite. She entered the code, the door hissing open. Marcus stood inside, lowering his weapon as she entered. Evan was still happily playing with his toy car on the bed, entirely unharmed and completely oblivious to the slaughter outside.

"Mommy!" Evan cheered, looking up with his bright blue eyes.

"I'm here, baby," Claire smiled, the terrifying apex predator vanishing instantly, replaced by the loving mother. The monsters of her past were dead. The Bennett family was ruined. Her empire was absolute, and her son was finally, permanently safe in the light.
