Chapter 14

The terror radiating from Emily was absolute. The bright, natural sunlight offered no shadows to hide within as Julian’s heavily tattooed hand crushed her airway. His cold, intimidating eyes bored into hers, entirely devoid of human empathy.
"She... she owns a building!" Emily choked out, desperate to survive the encounter. "The obsidian high-rise downtown! The penthouse! That's where she operates from!"
Julian slowly released his grip, letting the thirty-five-year-old woman collapse onto the broken ceramic pieces on her kitchen floor. She gasped for air, weeping hysterically.
"Thank you, Emily," Julian said softly. He adjusted the cuffs of his expensive dress shirt, his movie-star handsome face completely unbothered by her suffering. "You have been exceptionally helpful."

He turned his back on her and walked out into the pristine morning light, his polished leather shoes crunching over the shattered doorframe. He climbed into the back of a heavily armored, black SUV waiting at the curb. Four elite mercenaries, dressed in immaculate dark suits, sat in silence.
"The obsidian high-rise," Julian commanded his driver. "We are going to take back what is mine. If anyone stands between me and the boy, slaughter them."
