Chapter 16

The lobby of the obsidian high-rise was a masterpiece of modern architecture, bathed in cinematic, neutral white lighting. Julian Vance strode through the revolving glass doors, flanked by his elite mercenaries. He did not attempt a stealth infiltration. He was a warlord claiming his territory.

The building's private security team moved to intercept, but they were entirely outmatched. Julian raised his suppressed automatic weapon, firing with flawless, surgical precision. The sharp cracks of gunfire shattered the sophisticated quiet of the lobby. He moved with terrifying, fluid elegance, his tailored suit completely unhindered by the violence.

"Secure the elevators!" Julian roared, his deep voice carrying over the chaos. "Override the penthouse protocols!"

His men breached the security console, slicing through the encryption with ruthless efficiency. The elevator doors chimed, opening to reveal the heavily mirrored interior. Julian stepped inside, his cold, sharp eyes staring at his own reflection. He had hunted Claire for five years. He had underestimated her once, allowing her to escape his syndicate. He would not make the same mistake twice. As the elevator ascended rapidly toward the eightieth floor, Julian checked the magazine of his weapon, ready to execute anyone who stood in his way.
