Chapter 19

Claire stepped out from behind the marble column, stepping fully into the bright, cinematic sunlight streaming through the shattered windows. She did not raise her firearm. She discarded the empty weapon, letting it clatter loudly against the pristine floor. She drew a sleek, sharp tactical blade from her belt, the steel catching the vivid light.
Julian smiled, a cold, humorless expression. He dropped his own rifle, drawing a heavy combat knife. He was deeply masculine, a towering force of violence, but Claire stared at him with absolute, unyielding dominance.

Julian lunged forward, closing the distance with terrifying speed. He swung the heavy blade in a lethal arc aimed at her throat. Claire didn't flinch. She slipped inside his guard with flawless, fluid precision, parrying his strike and driving her knee brutally into his ribs.
Julian gasped, stumbling backward, but he quickly recovered, slashing aggressively at her face. Claire ducked, the blade severing a few strands of her hair. She pivoted on her heel, using his own momentum against him, and drove the hilt of her knife violently into his temple. The impact sent the Mafia boss crashing heavily onto the marble floor, his weapon sliding out of his tattooed hand.
