Chapter 20

Vincent caught his daughter, lifting her high into the air before pulling her securely against his chest. The terrifying, cold demeanor of the Mafia Boss vanished instantly, completely replaced by the profound, overwhelming love of a devoted father.

He walked over to the sofa and sat down beside Evelyn. She reached out, her hand resting gently on his cheek, her eyes searching his face for any sign of injury.

"Is it over, Vincent?" Evelyn asked softly, her voice still raspy, but strong.

"It's over, my love," Vincent murmured, leaning into her touch, his dark, intimidating eyes softening entirely. "The Commission is gone. New York is ours. There is no one left to threaten us."

"And Helena? Marco?" Evelyn asked quietly, mentioning the traitors locked in the sub-basement.

"They have been dealt with," Vincent stated, his voice devoid of any emotion regarding their fate. "They will never see the sun again."

Evelyn nodded slowly, accepting the brutal reality of the world they lived in. She rested her head on his broad shoulder, feeling a profound, unshakeable sense of peace settle over her for the first time in four years.

Vincent held his wife and daughter in the bright, warm sunlight of their new home. He had stared into the darkness, uncovered the horrific betrayal within his own walls, and burned an entire criminal empire to the ground to reclaim what was his.

He was a ruthless, terrifying monster to the world outside, but in this room, he was a protector. The Caruso family was finally whole, and their reign would be absolute, uncontested, and forever secure.
