Chapter 14

The New York strike force, realizing their assault had failed catastrophically against the impenetrable defense of the Caruso estate, attempted a desperate, panicked retreat. But Vincent had no intention of letting them leave.
"Seal the gates," Vincent ordered. "Trap them on the lawn."
The heavy, iron perimeter gates of the estate slammed shut, locking the remaining mercenaries inside the killing field. Silas and the exterior guards moved in, neutralizing the surviving hostiles with ruthless efficiency.
Within twenty minutes, the deafening roar of the firefight died away, replaced by the eerie, metallic silence of the aftermath.
Vincent walked out the front doors, the bright afternoon sun illuminating the carnage on his pristine property. Dozens of heavily armed mercenaries lay dead. His own men were securing the perimeter, their tailored suits dusted with plaster and gunpowder.
"We held them, Boss," Silas reported, his face grim but triumphant. "Minimal casualties on our side. But they managed to get one transport vehicle out before the gates closed. The commander escaped."
Vincent’s jaw locked tight. "Track the vehicle. They won't head back to New York. They will go to a safe house to report their failure to the Commission."
"We already have a drone on them, sir. They are heading toward the industrial district on the edge of the city."

"Prepare a strike team," Vincent commanded, his voice cold and absolute. "I want that commander alive. I want the Commission to know exactly who is coming for them."
He turned back toward the mansion. The immediate threat was neutralized, but the broader war against the Five Families had just begun. Vincent walked back into the estate, his mind operating with lethal, calculating precision. He had to secure his family before he went on the offensive.
