Chapter 9

The command was absolute. The highly trained, white American bodyguards moved with terrifying, synchronized efficiency. Two massive men lunged forward, grabbing Miles Caine by the arms before he could even attempt to draw his weapon or flee. They slammed him brutally against the wall of the music room, wrenching his arms violently behind his back. The sharp click of heavy tactical zip-ties echoed over the sound of Camille’s hysterical sobbing.

"Boss, please! Have mercy!" Miles screamed, his fair face turning an ugly, mottled red as he struggled uselessly against his former colleagues. "I have a family! We just needed the money!"

"You had a family," Adrian corrected, his voice a slow, unforgiving drawl. He did not even look at the struggling man. "Now... you have a debt. And I... will collect it... in full."

"Adrian, please!" Camille shrieked, crawling across the scattered flowers and broken instrument cases. She tried to reach his shoes again, her elegant formal dress completely ruined by water, dirt, and desperation. "I'll sign a full confession! I'll annul the marriage to him! I can still be your wife! I can be a good mother to Emma!"

The mention of her being a mother to his child caused the temperature in the bright, sunny room to plummet to absolute zero.

Adrian stepped forward, his polished leather shoe crunching heavily onto a pristine white rose, grinding the delicate petals into the hardwood floor. He crouched down, his angular face and sharply defined jawline hovering just inches from Camille’s terrified eyes.

"If you ever... speak my daughter's name again," Adrian whispered, his voice a low, vibrating hum of pure, concentrated malice, "I will cut the tongue... out of your mouth... and mail it... to your parents."

Camille gasped, clapping both hands over her mouth, her eyes wide with unadulterated horror. She scrambled backward, completely broken, realizing that the handsome, sophisticated man she thought she had manipulated was, in fact, the devil himself.

Adrian stood up slowly, his tall, deeply masculine frame dominating the bright room. He looked at his lead bodyguard.

"Take them both... to the basement," Adrian ordered, his words measured and cold. "Lock them... in the soundproof rooms. No food. No water. I will deal with them... personally... when the sun goes down."

"Yes, Mr. Bellucci," the lead guard nodded respectfully.

Two more guards stepped forward, hauling a thrashing, weeping Camille up from the floor. They dragged her backward, her high heels skidding across the polished wood, joining Miles as they were forcefully escorted out of the grand music room. Their screams and pleas faded quickly down the long, opulent hallway, until the heavy mahogany doors clicked shut, sealing their fate.

The room fell completely silent, save for the soft, residual sniffling of the little girl hiding behind her father. The bright, cinematic daylight continued to pour through the windows, entirely indifferent to the horrific justice that had just been dispensed. Adrian stood alone in the wreckage, the undisputed king of his empire, having ruthlessly eradicated the poison that had infiltrated his home.
