Chapter 20

Later that night, the Roswell estate was quiet and serene, a fortress of absolute security. Damon sat in his private study, the heavy velvet curtains drawn back to reveal the sprawling, brightly lit grounds.
Marcus entered the room, his dark suit impeccable, carrying a sleek, encrypted tablet.
"The final assets have been transferred, Boss," Marcus reported, placing the tablet on the mahogany desk. "The Sutton family is entirely bankrupt. They were last seen boarding a bus out of the city. The rival syndicates have sent messages of respect; no one is challenging your authority."
"Ensure the security protocols remain at maximum," Damon instructed, pouring a glass of neat whiskey. "Peace is an illusion, Marcus. We must always be ready for the next threat."
"Always, Mr. Roswell," Marcus nodded respectfully. He hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "If I may ask, Boss... what happens now?"
Damon took a slow sip of the burning liquid, the bright, tactical lights from outside reflecting in his dark, calculating eyes.
"Now, we build," Damon stated, his voice a low, vibrating hum of absolute determination. "We expand our legitimate holdings, we solidify our control over the ports, and we ensure that the Roswell name becomes synonymous with untouchable power."
He walked over to the large window, looking out over his conquered empire. He had flipped the board, broken the old rules, and rewritten the future of his family.

"We are going to build an empire that my sons can inherit without having to fight for it," Damon whispered, a fierce, predatory smile touching his lips.
The war was over, and Damon Roswell had won the game. He turned back to his study, ready to govern the kingdom he had secured with blood, iron, and a father's uncompromising love.
