Chapter 18

"You're stripping us of everything?" Brielle gasped, horror finally overriding her fear. "We'll be destitute!"
"You will be exactly what you are," Damon replied coldly. "Powerless."
Judge Sutton stared at the documents, his hands shaking violently. He looked at his sons, pinned against the wall, and his daughter, weeping on the sofa. He had no leverage, no allies, and no escape. The political armor he had worn his entire life had been completely shattered by a man who refused to play by his rules.
With a broken, defeated sob, the Judge picked up the pen and signed the documents, condemning his family to absolute, irreversible ruin.
Damon took the folder, verifying the signatures. He handed it to Marcus.
"The transition is complete," Damon announced, his voice devoid of any triumph or malice, projecting only cold, objective certainty. "You have one hour to vacate this property. You will leave with only the clothes on your backs. If any of you ever attempt to contact me, my children, or any member of my organization again, I will not hesitate to end your lives."
Damon turned his back on the ruined Sutton family and walked out of the mansion. He had neutralized the political threat, dismantled the mercenary force, and secured his empire without a prolonged, bloody war.
As his convoy drove back to the Roswell estate, the city was already reacting to the news of Judge Sutton's resignation and subsequent financial collapse. The message to the criminal underworld and the political elite was unmistakable: Damon Roswell was untouchable, and his family was completely off-limits.

When Damon returned to his home, the bright, cinematic sunlight was beginning to fade into a warm, golden dusk. The estate was secure, the guards standing vigilant at their posts.
He walked up the grand staircase and pushed open the doors to the children's wing.
