Chapter 17

"What do you want from us?" Rebecca shrieked, backing away until she hit the marble fireplace. "You took the company! You took our money! We have nothing left!"
"You have your lives," Daniel stated smoothly, his crisp American accent echoing coldly in the freezing room. "And I am here to dictate the terms of your continued existence."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out three thick, legal documents, dropping them onto the glass coffee table that Linda had narrowly avoided colliding with days ago.
"These are full confessions," Daniel explained, his dark eyes locking onto each of them with absolute, terrifying control. "Detailed, sworn affidavits documenting the physical assault on a minor, the coordinated restraint, and the subsequent attempt to cover up the crime. You will sign them."
Robert stared at the papers, his jaw dropping in horror. "Daniel... if we sign those, you could send us to prison for years! You could ruin us!"
"You are already ruined, Robert," Daniel sneered, his handsome face twisting into a mask of pure malice. "The company is mine. The accounts are drained. If you do not sign these confessions right now, my men outside will break your legs, load you into the trunks of those SUVs, and I will personally ensure you are never seen again."
The absolute, unhinged force of violence vibrating in Daniel's voice paralyzed them. They knew he wasn't bluffing. The man standing before them was not a son; he was an apex predator holding their lives in his hands.
Trembling, Robert reached for the pen. He signed his name, tears of pure, broken defeat streaming down his face. Rebecca followed, sobbing hysterically as she condemned herself. Linda signed last, her manicured fingers shaking violently.

Daniel picked up the signed documents, tucking them back into his pocket. He had the ultimate leverage. They were his permanent prisoners.
"You will pack one suitcase each," Daniel commanded, his voice devoid of any familial warmth. "You are leaving this city. You will be relocated to a property I own in the desert. You will have no money, no phones, and no contact with the outside world. If you attempt to flee, I will hand these confessions to the district attorney."
