Chapter 14

The corporate boardroom of Reed Enterprises was bathed in bright, unforgiving light. The massive glass windows offered a panoramic view of the city, highlighting the wealth and power of the corporation. The executive board members, dressed in expensive tailored suits, sat around the long mahogany table, murmuring in confusion. Robert Reed, the CEO, was absent.
The heavy double doors swung open, and Daniel Reed stepped into the room. He wore an immaculate, pitch-black suit, exuding the imposing, dangerous aura of a veteran mafia boss. The boardroom fell instantly silent. The executives felt the sudden, suffocating drop in air pressure.
Daniel walked to the head of the table, ignoring Robert's empty chair. He stood perfectly still, his dark eyes sweeping across the room with the clinical detachment of an executioner.
"Gentlemen," Daniel began, his crisp American accent cutting through the silence. "Effective immediately, Robert Reed is no longer the CEO of this company. He is currently under house arrest, pending a full federal investigation into severe financial embezzlement."
A collective gasp echoed around the table. The chairman of the board stood up, his fair face flushed. "Daniel, this is highly irregular. You cannot simply depose the CEO without a formal vote. Where is the evidence?"
Daniel didn't flinch. He signaled to Marcus, who stepped into the room and dropped a thick, leather-bound folder onto the center of the mahogany table.
"The evidence is in that folder," Daniel stated, his voice dangerously low. "Robert Reed has been siphoning company funds into a private shell corporation for three years. I have frozen his accounts and secured the stolen assets. The company is currently insolvent."

The executives scrambled for the folder, their faces draining of color as they reviewed the meticulously documented fraud. Daniel watched them, his face a mask of cold, lethal stone. He had orchestrated the embezzlement himself, a fail-safe he had built years ago to ensure his father could never cross him.
"I am assuming immediate control of Reed Enterprises," Daniel announced, leaning his knuckles on the table, asserting absolute dominance. "Anyone who objects can leave this room and face the federal auditors alongside Robert. Do we have an understanding?"
