Chapter 20

Daniel had orchestrated a massive document dump, sending entirely decrypted ledgers of Moretti's illegal operations directly to the FBI task force. As the sirens began to wail in the distance, signaling the arrival of the federal authorities, Daniel turned his back on the ruined Don and walked out of the office. He didn't need to kill him; a lifetime in a maximum-security cell was a far worse punishment for a man who craved power.
When Daniel returned to the Carter estate, the sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the immaculate grounds. The war was officially over. The city belonged entirely to the Carter family.
He walked into the nursery wing. Clara was sitting on the plush carpet, playing with Noah. The cinematic lighting was softer now, inviting and safe.
"It's done," Daniel said softly, leaning against the doorframe, watching his family.
Clara looked up, a bright, genuine smile touching her lips. "Are we safe?"
"We are completely safe," Daniel promised, walking over and dropping to his knees beside them. He pulled Clara into a fierce, passionate kiss, his heavy gold signet ring resting gently against her cheek.

He had faced the horrors within his own bloodline, and he had dismantled an entire criminal syndicate to protect them. The Carter estate was no longer a cage of aristocratic cruelty; it was a fortress built on absolute devotion.
As Daniel held his wife and son, he knew that the world was a brutal, unforgiving place. But he also knew that he was the most dangerous monster in the dark, and he would gladly burn the world to ashes to ensure they never suffered again. The legacy of the Carter family had been violently rewritten, and the future belonged entirely to them.
