Chapter 4

The bright, natural sunlight illuminating the brunch terrace offered absolutely no shadows for Vanessa to hide her violent intent. As her manicured hands lunged toward the weeping child, the deeply masculine, lethal instincts of the veteran Mafia Boss took absolute control.

Raffaele did not shout. He did not issue a warning.

Moving with the flawless, terrifying speed of an apex predator, Raffaele shifted Lily securely onto his left hip. His right hand shot out like a striking viper. He caught Vanessa by both of her upper arms, his tattooed fingers digging brutally into her fair, rosy flesh through the fabric of her elegant formal dress.

Vanessa let out a sharp gasp of shock, her eyes widening as the immense, immovable power of her husband completely arrested her momentum.

"Raffaele, you're hurting me!" Vanessa shrieked, struggling frantically to pull her arms free.

Without a fraction of a second of hesitation, Raffaele forcefully hurled her backward.

He didn't just push her; he unleashed a devastating wave of kinetic force. The sheer physical power behind the throw lifted Vanessa’s feet completely out of her designer heels. She flew backward through the bright, cinematic air, entirely out of control, her elegant dress twisting awkwardly around her legs.

She hurtled across the stone terrace and crashed violently into a heavy, ornate, empty patio chair.

The impact was brutal. The heavy wrought-iron chair screeched loudly against the stone floor as it skidded backward, tipping dangerously before slamming into a low decorative wall. Vanessa collapsed awkwardly into the cushions, her breath knocked completely out of her lungs. Her heavy diamond earrings swung wildly, and her perfectly styled hair fell into a disheveled mess across her face.

There was no dialogue. The overwhelming, sudden explosion of violence silenced the entire garden party.

The polite conversations, the clinking of champagne glasses, the soft background music—it all ceased instantly. The white American guests, the wealthy elite who had been enjoying the beautiful summer morning, froze in place. They stared in absolute, unadulterated horror at the woman gasping for air in the patio chair.

The rhythmic, heavy sound of polished leather shoes broke the silence.

From the perimeter of the terrace, the estate’s security apparatus responded. Six heavily armed bodyguards, men dressed in immaculate dark suits, stepped forward in perfect synchronization. They did not move to help Vanessa. They moved to form an impenetrable, protective wall behind and around Raffaele, their hands resting ominously near the concealed weapons beneath their jackets.

Raffaele stood in the center of the terrace, his chest rising and falling with slow, perfectly controlled breaths. His thick, neatly styled hair remained flawless. His cold, intimidating eyes were locked onto the woman in the chair, a terrifying portrait of a man who had just severed the final tether of his patience. The bright colors of the brunch felt like a grotesque mockery of the dark, violent reality that had just been unleashed upon the estate.
