Chapter 4

The brilliant, vivid colors of the private visitor lounge—the polished silver of the rolling refreshment station, the crisp white paper cups, the brightly labeled sealed water bottles—served as a surreal backdrop to the sudden explosion of violence.
Julian Mercer, blinded by his own toxic arrogance, swung his fist first. He aimed a wild, heavy right hook directly at Lorenzo’s sharply defined jawline.
Lorenzo’s reaction was instantaneous and flawless. With the terrifying reflexes of a man who had survived decades in the criminal underworld, he merely tilted his handsome head. He slipped the punch effortlessly, letting Julian’s fist sail harmlessly through empty air. The younger man’s momentum carried him slightly forward, leaving the entire left side of his face completely exposed.
Before Julian could recover his balance, Lorenzo planted his polished leather shoe firmly into the floor and drove one explosive, devastating counterpunch straight across Julian’s face.
The sound of the impact cracked like a gunshot in the sterile, brightly lit suite. The sheer kinetic force of the veteran Mafia Boss's strike lifted the thirty-six-year-old man off his feet. Julian’s eyes rolled back in his head as his fair, rosy skin bruised instantly under the crushing weight of Lorenzo’s knuckles.
Julian was sent spinning violently backward into the visitor lounge. He lost all control of his body, hurtling directly into the rolling refreshment station.
The heavy metal cart rocketed backward under his weight, crashing catastrophically into the freestanding magazine-and-blanket rack. The sound of tearing metal and shattering plastic filled the air. Sealed water bottles exploded from their neatly arranged rows, bouncing and rolling wildly across the polished floorboards. Stacks of pristine white paper cups scattered through the lounge like snow in the bright, natural light. Neatly folded visitor blankets burst from the collapsing shelves, filling the air with soft, tumbling fabrics.
Julian crashed completely through the collapsing lightweight metal frame of the display, taking the entire structure down with him. He hit the floor in a tangled heap of twisted metal, scattered magazines, and spilled water, completely unconscious before he even stopped sliding.
There was no dialogue. The overwhelming, brutal reality of the violence silenced everyone in the room.

Sofia covered her mouth with her trembling hands, sitting up in her hospital bed, her eyes wide with shock. Nurse Claire instinctively stepped back, shielding the bassinets with her own body. The two bodyguards remained stoic, their expressions entirely unchanged, accustomed to the sudden, lethal eruptions of their Boss.
Lorenzo stood perfectly still, his breathing steady and measured. He slowly lowered his fist, flexing his fingers to ensure the gold signet ring sat comfortably on his hand. He smoothed the unbuttoned collar of his dress shirt, adjusting his tailored suit jacket with casual elegance. He did not even glance at the ruined, bleeding man lying in the wreckage of the refreshment station. He simply turned his striking, movie-star handsome face back toward the remaining members of the Mercer family.
