Chapter 26

The firefight on the grounds of the estate was intense, but the invading mercenaries quickly realized they had miscalculated. They had expected to face standard mafia enforcers; instead, they were fighting a highly trained, heavily armed private army led by a man utterly devoid of fear.

Lorenzo pushed forward, advancing up the sweeping stone steps toward the main doors. He moved with blinding speed, dropping a mercenary who attempted to ambush him from behind a marble pillar. The sheer kinetic force and absolute dominance he exuded paralyzed the remaining attackers.

"Fall back!" the mercenary leader shouted, realizing their assault had completely stalled against the impenetrable Ravelli defense.

"You don't get to retreat," Lorenzo whispered to the darkness.

He didn't let them escape. Lorenzo and his tactical team pursued the fleeing mercenaries across the pristine lawns, engaging them relentlessly until every single hostile was neutralized. The sprawling estate fell quiet, the violent chaos replaced by the heavy, impending silence of the aftermath.

Lorenzo didn't pause to inspect the bodies. He turned and walked purposefully into the grand foyer of his mansion, his tactical boots leaving faint, dirty footprints on the polished marble floors.

He moved straight to the secure wing, bypassing the heavily armed guards stationed in the hallways. He reached the reinforced steel door of the panic room and entered the complex, multi-tiered biometric code.

The heavy door hissed open.

Sofia was sitting on the plush carpet inside, surrounded by the three bassinets, holding a specialized, compact firearm with trembling hands. When she saw her father, she lowered the weapon, tears of profound, overwhelming relief spilling over her rosy cheeks.

"It's over, Sofia," Lorenzo said softly, his voice dropping its lethal edge for just a fraction of a second. He walked into the room, pulling her gently into his arms. "The perimeter is secure. The threat is eliminated."
