Chapter 21

The aftermath of Lorenzo Ravelli’s surgical dismantling of the Mercer family and the Moretti syndicate sent a profound shockwave through the criminal underworld. The city was remarkably quiet in the following weeks, holding its breath as the dust settled. The message was unmistakable: the Ravelli empire was absolute, and any threat against Lorenzo’s bloodline would be met with total, annihilating force.

Sofia Ravelli was finally discharged from the hospital, her recovery progressing beautifully. She returned to the heavily fortified Ravelli estate, a sprawling mansion nestled in a secure, secluded suburb. The grand nursery had been prepared, bathed in soft, natural light, entirely devoid of the toxic presence that had haunted her in the hospital.

Lorenzo stood by the massive mahogany desk in his private study, reviewing the final legal documents formalizing Sofia's divorce. The Mercer name had been entirely eradicated from his daughter's life.

"The transition is complete, Mr. Ravelli," his lead attorney confirmed, his American accent crisp and professional. "Sofia retains sole custody of the triplets. Julian Mercer's legal rights have been permanently severed."

"Excellent," Lorenzo murmured, his voice a low, vibrating hum of satisfaction. "And the federal indictments against the Moretti lieutenants?"

"Proceeding smoothly, sir. The evidence you provided the FBI was irrefutable. The syndicate is effectively paralyzed."

Lorenzo dismissed the attorney and walked toward the large window overlooking the manicured grounds. He had won the war, but he knew that peace in their world was always temporary. Nature abhorred a vacuum, and the sudden collapse of the Moretti empire would eventually invite new challengers. He needed to ensure his organization was fortified against whatever came next.

His encrypted phone buzzed on the desk. Lorenzo picked it up, noting the specialized routing number. It was Silvio, the former Moretti enforcer he had spared in the underground garage.

"Speak," Lorenzo commanded, his voice dead calm.
