Chapter 4

Dario’s smirk widened, completely blinded by his own arrogant delusion. He believed that Luciano’s restraint was a sign of weakness, a hesitation born out of fear of their father’s watchful eyes. The bright, cinematic video colors of the foyer—the vibrant floral arrangement, the pristine marble console—seemed to sharpen in clarity as the tension reached a breaking point.

"You’re soft, Luciano," Dario spat, his voice echoing in the total absence of background music. "You care more about playing house than running this syndicate. You’re a disgrace to the Ferraro name!"

Dario roared and swung again, throwing his entire body weight into a massive, sweeping right hook aimed squarely at Luciano’s jaw.

It was a catastrophic miscalculation.

Luciano moved with the terrifying, explosive grace of an apex predator. He did not block the strike. With a subtle, effortless tilt of his broad shoulders, Luciano slipped outside the punch. Dario’s fist sailed harmlessly through the empty air, throwing the younger brother completely off balance and leaving his entire left side exposed.

Using Dario’s forward momentum against him, Luciano planted his polished leather shoes firmly on the marble floor. He twisted his torso, the tailored fabric of his dark three-piece suit pulling tight across his back, and drove one explosive, devastating counterpunch straight across Dario’s face.

The sickening crunch of bone and cartilage shattered the quiet of the foyer.

The sheer kinetic force of the strike lifted Dario completely off his feet. He spun violently backward, entirely airborne, hurtling across the pristine entrance hall.

Dario flew directly into the elaborate graduation presentation displays set up to honor their cousin Nora.

The collision was spectacular and catastrophic. Dario crashed into the displays with the force of a wrecking ball. Lightweight wooden structures folded and snapped sideways upon impact. Beautifully framed family photographs slid from their wooden stands, the glass shattering across the polished marble. Decorative, brightly colored wooden blocks scattered wildly across the floor, bouncing against the baseboards. Dario crashed heavily through the folding base of the main display, burying himself in a chaotic ruin of splintered wood, torn graduation banners, and broken glass.

He lay there completely motionless, knocked unconscious before he even hit the ground. Blood poured freely from his shattered nose, soaking into the collar of his expensive fitted shirt.

The entire foyer fell into an absolute, suffocating silence.

No dialogue was spoken. The white American capos, family members, and bodyguards stared in paralyzed shock at the total destruction of Dario Ferraro.

Luciano slowly lowered his tattooed hand. His breathing was slow, deep, and measured. He did not rub his knuckles. He did not adjust his unbuttoned shirt. He simply stared at his unconscious brother, his cold, intimidating eyes radiating a lethal calm. The artistic tattoos on his neck flexed as his jaw remained tightly clenched.

He slowly turned his head to look at his father. Augusto stood by the marble console, his fair, rosy face utterly unreadable. He had watched his eldest son brutally dismantle his youngest without uttering a single word of protest.

Luciano then turned his attention back to his pregnant wife. He knelt down beside Celeste, his massive, masculine frame instantly softening as he reached out to comfort her. But before he could speak to her, a sudden, frantic movement near the marble console caught his sharp eyes.
