Chapter 7

The command slammed into the bright, sunlit courtyard like a physical shockwave. The heavy wrought-iron gates of the estate immediately began to grind shut, the thick metal locking with a definitive, echoing thud. The elite white American guests, the men who controlled shipping lanes and political offices, were now prisoners within the high walls of the Moretti compound.
"Raffaele, be reasonable," a senior capo named Vincent urged, stepping cautiously out of the paralyzed crowd. His fair face was flushed with nervous perspiration. "We couldn't intervene. It was family business. You know the rules. We do not step between a boss's wife and his child."
Raffaele did not raise his voice. He shifted Lily’s weight slightly on his hip, his tattooed hand resting protectively against her back.
"The rules," Raffaele murmured, his cold eyes locking onto Vincent, "are designed to maintain order. They are not a shield... for cowardice. You watched a child... forced to her knees. You watched... an eleven-year-old boy... face down grown men... while you stood... and drank my champagne."
"We didn't know how deep it went, Boss!" another associate pleaded from the back of the crowd.
"Ignorance... is a choice," Raffaele stated flatly. He turned his attention back to his lead bodyguards, men who had arrived with him and whose loyalty was absolute.
"Secure the perimeter," Raffaele ordered quietly. "Disarm every capo, every associate, and every guest in this courtyard. If anyone reaches for a weapon, execute them immediately."
The mobilization was swift and terrifying. The loyal bodyguards moved with military precision, systematically stripping the powerful men of their concealed firearms and communication devices. The guests offered no resistance, their faces pale as they realized the extent of Raffaele's fury.
Vanessa groaned from the pavement, pushing herself up onto her elbows. Her elegant rally outfit was ruined, covered in dirt and polish, her cheek swelling rapidly into a grotesque, dark purple bruise.
"Raffaele, please!" Vanessa shrieked, her voice a desperate, hysterical whine. "I was just stressed! The child is difficult! You are overreacting! You can't turn the entire syndicate against me over a stupid polishing cloth!"
"Take her to the holding cells in the basement," Raffaele commanded, entirely ignoring her pathetic excuses. He didn't even look down at her. "Strip her of her jewelry. Take her phone. Put her in solitary confinement. I will deal with her... when the sun goes down."
"No! Raffaele, you can't do this!" Vanessa screamed as two massive bodyguards grabbed her roughly by the arms. They hauled her to her feet, dragging her backward across the pavement. Her high heels scraped loudly against the stone as she was forced toward the service entrance, her desperate pleas fading into the vast corridors of the estate.
"And him?" a bodyguard asked, gesturing toward Grant, who was still bleeding heavily beside the ruined helmet locker.
"Take him to the warehouse," Raffaele said, his deep, raspy voice devoid of any mercy. "Chain him to a chair. Have the medics patch him up just enough to keep him conscious. He and I are going to have a very long... very educational conversation... about exactly how long this abuse has been happening behind my back."
As the traitors were dragged away, Raffaele turned back to his nephew, his angular face softening just a fraction.
"Take Lily inside, Adrian," Raffaele instructed gently, handing the weeping toddler over to the teenager. "Have the nanny draw a warm bath. Lock the doors to the residential wing. Do not let anyone inside until I come for you."
May you like
"Yes, Uncle Raffaele," Adrian nodded firmly, holding his little cousin securely.
Raffaele watched them walk away, ensuring his bloodline was safe inside the fortified walls of the mansion. Then, he slowly turned his cold, intimidating eyes back to the dozens of powerful men trapped in the courtyard. The purge had only just begun.
