Chapter 4

The sudden, imposing arrival of Raffaele Moretti sucked the air entirely out of the bright, vividly colored courtyard. The natural cinematic light illuminated the catastrophic scene perfectly: his nephew fighting off grown men, his daughter running toward him in tears, and his wife and brother-in-law standing at the center of the abuse.

Grant Cole, blinded by the adrenaline of the fight and desperate to silence the teenager before he could explain the situation to the Boss, made a catastrophic, suicidal miscalculation. He ignored Raffaele's entrance entirely and charged directly toward Adrian, raising his heavy fist to strike the boy down.

Raffaele did not shout. He did not issue a warning.

Moving with the explosive, terrifying speed of an apex predator, the fifty-two-year-old Mafia Boss closed the distance in a fraction of a second. The tailored fabric of his dark suit pulled taut over his broad, powerful shoulders as he intercepted Grant’s path.

As Grant raised his arm to strike Adrian, Raffaele smoothly slipped inside the older man's guard. With absolute, devastating precision, Raffaele drove one catastrophic, explosive counterpunch straight across Grant’s face.

The heavy gold signet ring on Raffaele’s hand connected squarely with the fair, rosy skin of Grant’s cheekbone with a sickening, deafening crack that echoed like a rifle shot across the quiet courtyard.

The immense kinetic force of the blow was absolute. It lifted the forty-three-year-old Mafia associate completely off his heavy leather boots. Grant’s eyes rolled back in his head instantly, all the air detonating from his lungs in a violent spray.

Grant spun violently backward, completely out of control. His arms flailed uselessly in the air as he was launched across the pavement, hurtling directly toward a massive modular helmet locker standing near the edge of the display area.

He crashed into the heavy metal structure with the force of a wrecking ball.

The impact was thunderous. The lightweight metal doors of the locker burst violently open under the massive weight, the hinges shrieking against the metal.

Heavy, expensive helmet boxes tumbled outward like artillery shells, flying through the bright air and crashing onto the pavement. Dozens of padded riding gloves scattered chaotically through the air, fluttering down like a bizarre snowstorm amidst the total destruction.

Grant crashed heavily down beside the collapsed, ruined unit. He hit the ground in a tangled, groaning heap of twisted metal, scattered gloves, and broken cardboard. His luxury biker jacket was scuffed, and blood was already pouring from his mouth onto the pavement. He lay utterly incapacitated, his reign of arrogance over before it even began.

There was no dialogue. The overwhelming, brutal reality of the violence silenced every single person in the courtyard. The white American guests, the hardened capos, and the estate staff stared in absolute, breathless horror as the true power of the Moretti empire was unleashed.
