Chapter 23

Don Salvatore’s face turned an ugly shade of purple. He signaled his heavily armed enforcers stationed around the perimeter of the penthouse. "You think you can walk into my city and dictate terms, boy? You won't leave this room alive."

Before Salvatore's men could even raise their weapons, Raffaele moved with blinding, explosive speed. He drew his suppressed sidearm and fired a single, flawless shot. The bullet struck Salvatore’s lead enforcer squarely between the eyes, dropping the massive man instantly to the marble floor.

The room froze. The remaining Commission guards hesitated, their weapons half-drawn, completely paralyzed by the sheer, unhinged violence Raffaele wielded so effortlessly.

Raffaele leveled his weapon directly at Don Salvatore’s head. "I came here to deliver a message, not to negotiate," Raffaele whispered, the silence in the room heavy and suffocating. "The Marconi syndicate is a sovereign empire. If any of you send a single soldier into my city, I will not just kill your men. I will hunt you down, burn your homes, and erase your names from history."

He lowered his weapon, his movie-star handsome face carved in cold stone.

"Vincent, we are leaving," Raffaele commanded.

He turned his back on the most powerful men in the country and walked out of the penthouse. He knew he had just declared war against the entire National Commission, but he felt absolutely no fear. He was going home to fortify his castle.
