Chapter 19

"You came back!" Noah giggled, wrapping his tiny arms securely around Raffaele's broad neck.

"I told you I would, little man," Raffaele murmured, holding his son tightly against his chest, feeling the steady, reassuring beat of the boy's heart. "I will always come back to you."

He set Noah back down on the stool and sat beside him, watching the boy resume eating his breakfast. The kitchen staff moved quietly in the background, offering respectful nods to the Boss, their loyalty absolute after witnessing the terrifying lengths he would go to protect his family.

"Daddy, did you bring me a present from your trip?" Noah asked, his rosy cheeks full of pancakes.

Raffaele smiled—a genuine, warm expression that entirely erased the harsh lines of his angular face. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, beautifully carved wooden toy car he had acquired during the stopover.

"I did," Raffaele said, placing the toy on the marble counter.

Noah's eyes lit up, abandoning his fork to play with the new toy. Raffaele watched him, a profound sense of peace settling over him. He had burned a rival syndicate to the ground, but looking at his son, he knew he would do it a thousand times over to ensure Noah never felt fear again.

Later that afternoon, Raffaele sat in his private study, the heavy velvet curtains drawn back to allow the natural light to fill the room. Vincent stepped through the heavy oak doors, carrying a sleek, encrypted tablet.

"The transition is complete, Boss," Vincent reported, his voice filled with grim satisfaction. "The Greco territory is fractured. Two smaller families have moved in to absorb their operations, and both have explicitly sworn allegiance to the Marconi syndicate. We effectively control Chicago's shipping routes now."

Raffaele nodded slowly, leaning back in his leather chair. The engagement had been a calculated risk by the Grecos, and it had resulted in their total annihilation and the expansion of Raffaele's empire.

"And Victoria?" Raffaele asked softly.

"Secured in the Maine facility," Vincent confirmed. "She is in a windowless cell. She will never see the sun again."
