Chapter 10

The morning sun broke over the sprawling Blackthorne estate, casting a bright, luminous glow through the towering windows of the primary dining hall. The cascading crystal chandeliers were turned off, allowing the natural, airy daylight to fill the room with a fresh, polished warmth. The long mahogany tables had been cleared of the gold-rimmed porcelain and silver cutlery, returning the room to a state of quiet, elegant tranquility.

Julian stood near the marble fireplace, staring up at the portrait of his late brother. He had spent the entire night orchestrating the systemic destruction of the Prescott syndicate. Strike teams had already seized the eastern ports, and Natalia’s father was currently in federal custody, courtesy of an anonymous package containing his daughter's handwritten confession and a mountain of fabricated evidence that Julian had expertly planted. The war had been won before the enemy even realized the battle had begun.

The heavy double doors of the dining hall clicked open, breaking the silent reverence of the morning.

Elise stepped into the room. The beautiful housemaid looked refreshed and radiant in her sophisticated black dress, her expressive brows relaxed. She held little Miles securely on her hip, the fourteen-month-old boy bouncing happily, his soft trousers and tiny waistcoat looking adorable in the morning light.

"Is my wife awake, Elise?" Julian asked, turning away from the fireplace, a genuine, warm smile breaking across his handsome face as he looked at his son.

"She is, Mr. Blackthorne," Elise replied, her American accent bright and cheerful. "She has requested breakfast in bed, and she is asking for both of you."

"Shall we go see Mommy, Miles?" Julian asked, walking over and effortlessly lifting the heavy toddler out of the maid's arms.

Miles giggled, grabbing a loose strand of wavy hair that fell over Julian's forehead.

Julian looked at Elise, his cold, perceptive eyes entirely softened by profound gratitude. The young woman had risked her life, her job, and her safety to expose a truth that had saved his family from total annihilation. She was no longer just a servant in his household; she was a fiercely loyal, permanent fixture of his inner circle.

"Will you join us for breakfast, Elise?" Julian asked softly.

Elise’s fair, rosy cheeks flushed a delicate pink. "Oh, no, sir. I wouldn't want to intrude on your family time. I have duties to attend to in the west wing."

"Do you believe the woman who saved this family is considered an intruder?" Julian inquired, tilting his head slightly, refusing to accept her polite decline.

Elise smiled, a beautiful, radiant expression that lit up her softly tapered face. She realized that the Mafia boss was not giving an order, but offering a genuine, heartfelt invitation to sit at his table. The terrifying executioner of the night before had completely vanished, leaving only a fiercely protective patriarch.

"I would be honored to join you, Mr. Blackthorne," Elise replied gracefully.

"Shall we lead the way?" Julian asked, adjusting his son on his powerful shoulder.

They walked together out of the bright, airy dining hall, ascending the grand marble staircase toward the luminous warmth of the master suite. The nightmare was over. The traitors had been purged, the empire secured, and the family reunited. But as Julian glanced out the massive windows at the sprawling city below, he knew that peace in their world was always temporary. New enemies would rise, and new wars would be fought.

"Will anyone ever dare to threaten this family again while I draw breath?" Julian whispered to himself, a dark, terrifying promise lingering beneath his breath. The future of the Blackthorne syndicate was bright, but it would always be defended in blood.
