Chapter 8

The city skyline glittered against the night sky, a stark contrast to the dark, violent business about to unfold. Three armored black SUVs rolled silently through the warehouse district, their headlights cut, moving like ghosts through the shadows.

Dante Caruso sat in the back of the lead vehicle. He wore his tailored dark suit, completely unbothered by the impending bloodshed. He calmly loaded a fresh magazine into his suppressed pistol. The artistic tattoos on his hands flexed rhythmically. Silas sat across from him, holding an assault rifle across his knees.

"The Moretti compound is a fortified warehouse two blocks ahead," Silas reported quietly, checking his tactical radio. "They have perimeter guards, but they aren't expecting a frontal assault. They think we are celebrating at the estate."

"They think I am a grieving widower incapable of holding my territory," Dante whispered, his deep voice slicing through the tense silence of the vehicle. "We will correct their misconception."

The SUVs rolled to a stop just outside the visual range of the Moretti perimeter cameras. The doors opened silently, and two dozen heavily armed Caruso men poured out onto the cracked asphalt. They moved with absolute, terrifying precision, communicating through silent hand signals.

Dante stepped out of the vehicle. The cool night air ruffled the loose strands of his wavy hair. He did not wear a tactical vest. He walked with the imposing, deeply masculine elegance of a Mafia Boss who knew exactly how dangerous he was.

"Take out the cameras," Dante ordered softly.

Pfft. Pfft.

Suppressed sniper fire from a nearby rooftop shattered the security cameras mounted on the warehouse walls. The perimeter was instantly blinded.

"Breach," Dante commanded.

His men attached a shaped breaching charge to the heavy steel side doors of the warehouse. The explosion was deafening, tearing the steel hinges from the concrete wall in a shower of sparks and smoke.

Before the smoke could even clear, Dante walked through the threshold, stepping directly into the enemy stronghold.

The interior of the warehouse was brightly lit, exposing dozens of Moretti soldiers scrambling for their weapons. They had been entirely caught off guard.

Dante did not hesitate. He raised his pistol, aiming with cold, mechanical precision. The cinematic, bright lights of the warehouse illuminated the terrifying, emotionless mask of the veteran Don.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Dante fired three shots, dropping three Moretti enforcers before they could even unholster their weapons. His men flooded into the building behind him, unleashing a highly coordinated, overwhelming barrage of automatic gunfire.

"Clear the floor!" Silas roared, leading the tactical sweep.

Dante walked through the chaotic crossfire with terrifying calmness. Bullets sparked against the concrete pillars around him, but he did not duck or seek cover. He moved methodically, searching for the man who had conspired to buy his daughter's life.

At the far end of the warehouse, a heavy glass office door burst open. Vincent Moretti, the head of the rival syndicate, sprinted out, clutching a submachine gun.
