Chapter 9

The private showroom fell into a deep, cleansing silence.
The bright halogen chandeliers illuminated the clean, empty space, washing away the lingering shadows of violence and betrayal. In the corner, the fallen merchandising cart had been righted, the scattered velvet boards gathered, and the showroom restored to pristine order.
The side door to the VIP lounge opened softly.
Frank stepped into the room, holding three-year-old Noah in his arms. The little boy was awake now, rubbing his eyes with a small fist, wearing a warm cashmere sweater over his child’s suit.
When Noah saw his mother standing in the center of the room, his face lit up with pure, unshadowed childhood joy.
"Mommy!" Noah cried, wriggling out of the enforcer's arms.
Isabella knelt quickly, opening her uninjured right arm. Noah ran across the marble, throwing his small arms tightly around her neck, burying his face into her dark hair.
"Mommy, are we going home now?" Noah asked, his small voice echoing sweetly in the quiet hall. "To the big house with the fountain?"
Isabella held her son close, kissing his rosy cheek, tears of overwhelming relief finally spilling freely from her eyes. "Yes, baby. We’re going home. We’re going home with Grandpa."
Massimo walked over, towering over them like an ancient oak. He knelt on one knee beside them, his large, rough hand gently cupping Noah’s head, his thumb stroking the toddler’s soft hair.
"Did you take care of Mommy, Noah?" Massimo asked softly, his baritone warm and full of deep, paternal pride.
Noah nodded solemnly, holding up his small hand. "I showed you the marks, Grandpa. Just like Mommy told me when Dad wasn't looking."
Massimo smiled—a rare, breathtaking expression that transformed his rugged, intimidating features, erasing thirty years of mafia bloodshed from his eyes.
"You did good, little man," Massimo murmured, leaning forward to press a kiss to the boy's forehead. "You did very good."
He helped Isabella to her feet, supporting her by the elbow, ensuring her fractured arm was completely protected.
"The armored Maybach is waiting downstairs in the private alley, Isabella," Massimo said, guiding them toward the executive elevator. "Your mother has prepared the east wing of the estate in Greenwich. You and Noah will have your own security detail, your own staff, and complete peace."
Isabella looked up into her father’s striking face, her hazel eyes shining with boundless gratitude.
"What about the business, Dad?" she asked softly as the elevator doors chimed open. "Grant said Chicago would retaliate if we severed the Hale contracts."

Massimo stepped into the wood-paneled elevator, pulling his daughter and grandson close against his chest. A cold, dangerous gleam returned to his slate-grey eyes as the steel doors began to glide shut.
"Let them come, Isabella," Massimo whispered into the quiet cabin. "A father who has just reclaimed his daughter is the most dangerous creature on this earth."
