Chapter 7

The tension in the brightly lit room escalated into a highly combustible, physical weight. The capos standing near the perimeter of the dining hall shifted nervously in their formal suits, realizing that the political standoff was about to reach a violent conclusion. The cinematic light caught the heavy gold signet ring on Rafael's hand as he slowly reached out over the table.
Beatrice watched him, a triumphant gleam flashing in her eyes. She genuinely believed she had backed him into a corner. She believed the Mafia boss was reaching for a pen to sign his empire over to her control.
Rafael’s large, powerful hands grasped the thick stack of legal succession papers. He lifted them from the mahogany surface.
He did not ask for a pen.
With a sudden, violent exertion of his immense upper-body strength, Rafael gripped the documents and violently tore the entire stack of thick, notarized papers completely in half.
The sound of the tearing paper ripped through the silent room like a gunshot.
Beatrice gasped, her eyes widening in sheer, unadulterated horror as the legal foundation of her coup was destroyed in a fraction of a second.
Rafael didn't stop there. He placed the two torn halves together and tore them again, reducing the meticulous, highly orchestrated succession plan into a handful of worthless, jagged confetti.
With a look of absolute, terrifying contempt, Rafael dropped the shredded remains of the documents directly into Beatrice’s lap.
"No!" Beatrice shrieked, frantically brushing the torn papers off her elegant formal gown as if they were burning her. "Do you know what you have just done?! You have declared war on your own board!"
"I have declared war on traitors," Rafael corrected her, his voice a dead, emotionless void.
He turned away from the table.
"Bring her out," Rafael commanded loudly, his voice echoing toward the heavy oak doors of his private study.
The doors opened, and the heavily armed bodyguard stepped back into the bright, cinematic light of the dining hall. In his arms, he carried five-year-old Amelia. The little girl had stopped crying, though her fair, rosy cheeks were still flushed. She looked around the ruined room with wide, innocent eyes.
The guard gently set Amelia down on her feet. Her medical leg brace locked securely into place, allowing her to stand tall and perfectly balanced.
Rafael walked over to his daughter. He dropped to one knee, bringing himself down to her eye level. He reached out with his right hand and, with a slow, deliberate motion, slid the heavy gold signet ring off his own finger.
The room watched in absolute, paralyzed shock as the ultimate symbol of the Castellano syndicate's power was removed.

Rafael took Amelia’s tiny hand in his. He placed the massive gold signet ring directly into the palm of her hand, closing her small fingers securely around the heavy metal.
"This belongs to you, Amelia," Rafael declared, his deep voice carrying effortlessly across the silent room, ensuring every capo and guest heard his unbreakable decree. "You are the blood of this house. You are the only heir to this throne. And anyone who questions your strength... answers to me."
