Chapter 4

The bright, natural sunlight pouring into the dining hall felt like a grotesque mockery of the dark, treacherous reality unfolding within the Castellano family. Rafael remained kneeling for a long moment, his hand resting reassuringly on Amelia’s back. He stared at Beatrice, his expression a mask of pure, unyielding granite.
"Take Amelia to my private study," Rafael commanded, his American accent low and absolute. He didn't look away from his mother as he spoke.
A trusted, heavily armed bodyguard immediately stepped forward. "Yes, Mr. Castellano."
The guard gently lifted the weeping five-year-old into his arms, carrying her out of the tense, brilliantly lit room and securing her behind heavy oak doors. Once his bloodline was safely removed from the battlefield, Rafael slowly stood up to his full, imposing height.
Beatrice Castellano did not flinch under her son's lethal glare. The sixty-seven-year-old matriarch was a woman who had survived decades of Mafia warfare by being more ruthless than the men around her. She smoothed the front of her elegant formal gown, her pearl jewelry shifting against her collarbone.
Without breaking eye contact with Rafael, Beatrice calmly reached out her manicured hand. She rested her fingers on the thick, sealed manila folder she had brought to the table.
With a slow, deliberate push, Beatrice calmly slid the sealed succession folder across the polished mahogany table toward Rafael.
The heavy folder came to a stop near the center of the table. The seal had already been broken. As the folder slid, the top flap flipped open. The crisp, official legal documents inside shifted, and the contents became undeniably visible under the cinematic lighting.
Printed in bold, black ink across the top of the primary document was a total restructuring of the family trust. The documents explicitly named nine-year-old Julian as the sole beneficiary and heir to the Castellano empire, completely legally bypassing Amelia.
There was no dialogue. The silence in the room was absolute and suffocating.
Valeria, standing a few feet away, crossed her arms over her luxurious formal dress. "It's already been notarized by the family lawyers, Rafael. The board of capos has been briefed. The transition of power will be overseen by Mother until Julian comes of age."

"You have been blinded by your affection for a broken child," Beatrice finally spoke, her voice ringing with cold, unyielding authority. "You are putting the entire syndicate at risk by refusing to name a capable successor. We simply took the burden of the decision off your shoulders."
Rafael stared at the documents, the physical proof of a bloodless coup orchestrated by the women who shared his DNA. The sheer, psychopathic magnitude of their betrayal required a response that would permanently alter the foundation of their world.
