Chapter 5

The air in the dining hall grew so dense it was difficult to breathe. The White American guests and the seasoned capos remained frozen, acutely aware that they were witnessing a historic, violent shift in the syndicate’s power structure. The bright video colors of the room highlighted the arrogant, triumphant smirk that had returned to Valeria's fair, rosy face. She genuinely believed that the legal documents and her mother's backing had neutralized her brother.
She was catastrophically wrong.
Rafael did not look at the papers again. He did not argue with his mother. The deeply masculine, terrifying Mafia boss turned his body slowly, his cold, intimidating eyes locking entirely onto Valeria.
"You laid your hands on my daughter," Rafael whispered. The volume of his voice was terrifyingly low, yet the measured, lethal cadence reached every corner of the vast room.
"I was proving a point, Rafael," Valeria scoffed, though she took a slight step backward as he approached. "She is weak! She can't even stand on her own two feet! How is she supposed to command an army of men when she grows up? You need to accept reality."
Rafael closed the final distance between them. He did not yell. He did not issue a secondary warning.
With a blinding, explosive speed that completely defied his massive frame, Rafael raised his right hand. Channeling the immense power of his broad shoulders, he delivered one brutal, devastating open-handed slap directly across Valeria’s face.
The sound of the impact cracked like a gunshot, echoing violently off the high ceilings of the estate.
The sheer kinetic force of the blow was absolute. Valeria’s head snapped violently sideways. The heavy diamond earrings she wore tore at her earlobes. She was lifted completely off her designer heels.
Valeria staggered violently backward, entirely out of control. Her luxurious formal dress twisted around her legs as she hurtled blindly across the floor. She crashed backward directly into the elaborate birthday cake table.
The impact was catastrophic. The heavy wooden table buckled under her weight. The massive, tiered birthday cake exploded, sending white frosting and shattered crystal cake stands flying through the bright, cinematic air. Valeria crashed heavily among the fallen decorations, collapsing into a pathetic, groaning heap of ruined silk, shattered glass, and crushed cake.
There was no dialogue. The overwhelming, brutal reality of the violence silenced every single person in the room.

Julian, the nine-year-old boy, let out a terrified shriek and scrambled under a nearby chair, hiding from the monster his uncle had just become.
Rafael stood over the wreckage, his tailored dark suit entirely unblemished. His breathing was slow and perfectly controlled. He flexed his right hand, adjusting the heavy gold signet ring on his finger, before slowly turning his back on his ruined sister and facing his mother once again.
