Chapter 19

The following weeks saw a massive, unchallenged expansion of the Bellori empire. With Don Moretti dead and the rival syndicate fractured into warring, desperate factions, Orson absorbed their territories and supply lines with ruthless efficiency. The other families across the country watched in terrified awe; the message was clear: crossing Orson Bellori meant absolute, catastrophic annihilation.

The estate returned to its pristine, cinematic perfection. The bright, natural sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the grand dining hall, illuminating a space that was no longer haunted by the ghost of Tamsin’s cruelty.

Orson sat at the head of the long mahogany table, reviewing a stack of lucrative shipping contracts. He wore a crisp, tailored suit, the artistic tattoos on his hands flexing as he signed his name.

"The northern ports are fully integrated, Boss," Marcus reported, stepping into the dining hall. The Capo looked relaxed, the tension of the war finally gone from his shoulders. "Profits are up thirty percent this quarter. The unions are completely under our control."

"Excellent," Orson murmured, his deep, raspy voice carrying a note of genuine satisfaction. "Ensure the foremen receive their bonuses. Loyalty must be rewarded, Marcus, just as treason is punished."

"Understood, Mr. Bellori," Marcus nodded respectfully.

The heavy doors opened, and Mara ran into the dining hall, wearing a beautiful yellow sundress. Her rosy cheeks were flushed with excitement, entirely untouched by the dark reality of her father's world.

"Daddy!" Mara cheered, climbing onto the large chair beside him.

Orson set the contracts aside instantly, his cold, intimidating eyes softening into pure affection. "Good afternoon, my sweet girl. Have you had a good day?"

"Yes! I played in the garden, and I didn't even need my inhaler once!" Mara boasted proudly.

"I am very glad to hear that," Orson smiled, a genuine, breathtaking expression that erased the harsh lines of his angular face.
