Chapter 6

The ringing silence in the grand ballroom was profound, a sharp, terrifying contrast to the polite, festive atmosphere that had existed just moments before. The bright, cinematic lighting illuminated the catastrophic ruin of the silver-service console, casting harsh reflections off the scattered, spinning silver trays. Marcus Bellandi lay groaning beneath the metal serving domes, completely broken.

Victoria Bellandi stared at her son’s ruined body, her fair, rosy face turning a sickly, translucent white. The elegant, untouchable matriarch mask shattered entirely, replaced by a surge of pure, unadulterated, aristocratic panic and blinding fury. She had never witnessed Lorenzo unleash his physical dominance against his own bloodline.

"Marcus!" Victoria shrieked, her American accent cracking into a hysterical, breathless wail.

Driven by cornered desperation and an irrational belief that she could still control the narrative, Victoria angrily lunged forward. She bypassed Lorenzo entirely, her luxurious formal gown swishing violently across the marble, and charged directly toward the two bodyguards shielding three-year-old Isabella.

"This is your fault, you little monster!" Victoria screamed, reaching her pearl-ringed hands out aggressively, attempting to bypass the guards and grab the weeping child.

Lorenzo moved with terrifying, fluid speed.

He intercepted her trajectory with absolute precision. He stepped directly into her path, a towering, impenetrable wall of dark wool and lethal intent. As Victoria tried to push past him, Lorenzo reached out and caught her wrist in an iron grip.

"Get your hands off me, Lorenzo!" Victoria hissed, attempting to slap him with her free hand.

Lorenzo did not flinch. He easily deflected her weak strike. Without a fraction of a second of hesitation, he pulled her arm downward, exposing her face, and delivered one thunderous, devastating open-handed slap directly across Victoria’s powdered cheek.

The sound of the impact cracked like a whip in the silent hall.

The sheer, masculine force behind the blow was catastrophic. It lifted the sixty-three-year-old woman completely out of her designer heels. Victoria spun violently backward, entirely out of control, her emerald gown twisting awkwardly around her legs.

She hurtled backward across the polished floor, flying directly toward the tall, heavy antique umbrella stand positioned near the grand entryway.

She crashed into the heavy brass structure with staggering force. The tall stand overturned completely. Heavy, decorative walking canes with solid brass handles, expensive silk umbrellas, and sharp wooden handles exploded out of the container, flying across the marble floor like deadly projectiles.

Victoria fell backward, crashing heavily onto the plush carpet beneath the scattered, rolling canes. Her heavy pearl jewelry snapped, sending dozens of pristine white pearls bouncing across the floor. She collapsed in a pathetic, groaning heap, her cheek already swelling an angry, dark purple.

The entire party goes silent.

There was no dialogue. The white American guests, the hardened capos, and the estate staff stared in absolute, breathless horror. To strike the senior matriarch of the family was a paradigm-shifting event, an act that fundamentally rewrote the laws of the Bellandi empire. Lorenzo stood over her, breathing slowly, the undisputed, terrifying king of his domain.
