Chapter 1

The grand ballroom of the Bellandi estate was a masterpiece of modern luxury, bathed entirely in bright, vivid cinematic lighting. Massive windows allowed natural, brilliant sunlight to pour across the polished marble floors, ensuring that the vast space remained completely free of any harsh or muddy yellow tint. Everything was crisp, pristine, and luminous. The guests, an exclusive gathering of white American adults attending a private Mafia-family welcome party, mingled with easy confidence. Their fair, rosy skin glowed with health and generational wealth, and the air was filled with the smooth, melodic hum of crisp American accents. Waiters glided silently through the crowd, carrying trays of champagne, while heavily armed bodyguards stood at the perimeter in perfectly tailored dark suits.
At the center of the room’s undeniable gravity stood Lorenzo Bellandi. At forty-nine years old, Lorenzo was a man of terrifying, deeply masculine power. He was breathtakingly handsome, possessing the rugged, chiseled features of a veteran Mafia boss. He wore a flawlessly tailored dark three-piece suit, a crisp white dress shirt, and polished leather shoes that gleamed under the bright lights. A heavy gold family signet ring rested on his finger, alongside a luxury wristwatch. His presence alone was enough to suffocate the room, but it was his cold, intimidating eyes that truly demanded absolute submission.
"The western expansion is proceeding exactly as you mandated, Mr. Bellandi," a young capo reported, his American accent respectful and steady. "The local unions have agreed to our terms without a single objection."
"They agreed because they understand the alternative," Lorenzo replied. His voice was a low, resonant baritone. He spoke slowly, with controlled pauses between his words, keeping his volume low. Every sentence sounded measured, cold, and dangerous. "Ensure the contracts are finalized by midnight. I do not tolerate loose ends in my city."
"Understood, Boss," the capo nodded quickly. "Everything is being handled. The party has been a massive success so far. Your aunt Victoria has outdone herself with the preparations."
Lorenzo did not smile. His sharp eyes scanned the brightly lit ballroom, sweeping past the elegant floral arrangements and the narrow console loaded with silver serving domes. Something was wrong. The air felt inexplicably tense, and a fundamental piece of his world was missing from the vibrant scene.
"Where is Isabella?" Lorenzo asked, his tone dropping an octave into a register of quiet danger. "She was supposed to be brought down to the main hall twenty minutes ago."
"I... I am not sure, sir," the capo stammered, his fair skin paling slightly under Lorenzo’s intense gaze. "I believe the nanny was preparing her in the east wing."

"Find her," Lorenzo commanded, stepping away from the conversation. "Now."
Lorenzo did not wait for the man to act. A deep, unsettling instinct flared in his chest. He moved through the crowd, his broad shoulders cutting a terrifying silhouette against the bright, vivid colors of the ballroom. As he approached the grand hallway, the polite chatter of the wealthy guests faded into the background. His polished leather shoes clicked against the marble as he stopped near a massive framed oil portrait hanging on the far wall. He stood perfectly still, his head tilted. Beneath the music, he heard a sound that made his blood run absolutely cold.
