Chapter 9

The sun began to dip below the horizon, replacing the bright, cinematic daylight with the deep, rich colors of twilight. The Bellucci estate was transformed into an armed fortress. Heavy iron gates were locked, and tactical teams patrolled the perimeter with silent, lethal efficiency.
Inside his study, Carmine stood before a massive mirror, adjusting the cuffs of a fresh, tailored dark suit jacket. The charming, romantic look of his wavy hair falling over his forehead completely belied the apocalyptic violence he was preparing to unleash. He checked the heavy family signet ring on his finger, a symbol of absolute authority, before securing a customized firearm into the shoulder holster beneath his jacket.
The heavy oak doors of the study opened, and Vincent stepped inside, his phone pressed to his ear. The bodyguard's face was grim.
"Boss," Vincent said, ending the call. "We have a situation. It's not just the Rossis."
Carmine turned slowly, his sharp, intimidating eyes locking onto his lieutenant. "Explain."
"Our scouts just reported movement near the southern docks," Vincent said, his crisp American accent tight with urgency. "The black SUV that picked up Helena didn't go to the Rossi compound. It went straight to the harbor. She is meeting with the Chicago faction."
The revelation shifted the entire tactical landscape. The Chicago outfit was a massive, highly organized syndicate. If they were allying with the local Rossi family and using Helena's insider knowledge to breach the Bellucci defenses, it was no longer a simple turf war. It was a full-scale invasion.
"They are moving faster than we anticipated," Carmine murmured, his voice incredibly calm despite the catastrophic news. He walked over to his desk, picking up a spare magazine for his weapon. "They know I banished her today. They know the element of surprise is lost. They will strike tonight."
"We are heavily outnumbered if Chicago and Rossi merge their forces, Carmine," Vincent warned, stepping closer. "We should evacuate the boy and fall back to the safe house in the mountains."
"We do not retreat," Carmine stated, his voice a low, terrifying rumble that echoed in the quiet room. "I will not have my son... running in the dark... like a fugitive."
He walked past Vincent, his polished leather shoes striking the floor with a heavy, deliberate rhythm. He headed straight for the master suite.
He knocked twice on the heavy oak door. Maria opened it a fraction of an inch, her eyes wide, before pulling it fully open when she saw him.
"Mr. Bellucci?" she asked nervously.
"Bring him," Carmine ordered softly.
Maria nodded, running back to the bed and gently waking the sleeping three-year-old. She wrapped Leo in a thick, warm blanket and carried him to his father. Carmine took his son, holding the heavy bundle securely against his chest. Leo blinked sleepily, resting his head on Carmine’s shoulder.
"We are moving to the subterranean bunker," Carmine told Maria, his eyes completely serious. "You will stay with him. The blast doors will not open until I come for you. Do you understand?"
May you like
"Yes, sir," Maria said, her fair skin pale, but her voice steady.
Carmine led them down the hidden staircase behind his study, descending deep into the impenetrable belly of the estate. He was securing his bloodline, preparing to unleash hell on the surface.
