Chapter 18

The transition of power was swift and absolute. Emily purged the remaining disloyal elements from the Moretti syndicate, replacing them with highly trained, fiercely loyal operators she had cultivated in Europe. Patricia Moretti was quietly exiled to a heavily guarded retirement facility in Florida, entirely cut off from the family's wealth and influence.
The estate hummed with a quiet, heavily fortified peace. The cinematic, pristine lighting of the mansion was restored to its former glory.

The door opened, and Marcus stepped inside. "Boss. The perimeter is secure. The Chicago faction has officially signed the new treaties. They have surrendered the northern ports without a fight."
"Excellent work, Marcus," Emily murmured, a rare, genuine smile touching her lips. "Ensure the men receive their operational bonuses. Loyalty must be rewarded just as fiercely as treason is punished."
"Yes, Boss," Marcus nodded respectfully. He hesitated for a moment. "If I may say so, ma'am... it is good to have you back."
"It is good to be back," Emily agreed.

"Mommy!" Ethan cheered, running to her.
