Chapter 25

The return flight to the estate was swift. The northern threat had been violently, permanently eradicated, cementing the Falcone syndicate as the undisputed, untouchable superpower of the eastern seaboard.

When Dominic walked back into the grand atrium, the sun was just rising, casting a brilliant, cinematic light over the pristine marble floors. The stark contrast between the blood-soaked lumber mill and the flawless beauty of his home was jarring, but necessary.

He shed his tactical gear in the subterranean armory, changing into a fresh, tailored dark suit. He walked up the grand staircase, his heavy footsteps echoing softly.

He opened the door to the east wing sitting room.

Elena was asleep on the plush leather sofa, curled up under a thick blanket. She had stayed up all night waiting for him. The bright morning light highlighted the delicate, heart-shaped lines of her face.

Dominic stood in the doorway, his cold, intimidating eyes softening completely. The heavy burden of the crown lifted from his broad shoulders. He walked over, kneeling beside the sofa, and gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her cheek.

Elena stirred, opening her eyes. When she saw him, safe and unharmed, a profound wave of relief washed over her features. She sat up quickly, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You're back," she breathed, holding him tightly.

"I told you I would be," Dominic murmured, burying his face in her neck, inhaling her scent. The monster of the underworld completely surrendered to the woman holding him.
