Chapter 10

Corisandra asked to apologize to Nessa.
I said no.
Not yet.
Six months later, Nessa asked about her.
“Where Risa?”
That was what she called Corisandra.
I answered honestly:
“She lives somewhere else now.”
“Why?”
“Because she made a bad choice that scared you.”
Nessa thought.
“Trunk?”
“Yes.”
Then:
“She sorry?”
“I think so.”
“Can she say?”
Her choice.
We arranged ten minutes.
Corisandra crouched.
“I put you somewhere you didn’t want to be.”
Nessa nodded.
“I told you a driver would take you away.”
Another nod.
“That was wrong.”
Nessa stared.
Then:
“Don’t do kids boxes.”
Corisandra cried.
“No.”
Good.
