Chapter 4

The absolute silence of the garden was deafening. The bright, cinematic lighting cast a flawless glow over the confrontation, highlighting the tension coiled in Alessio’s broad shoulders. He slowly unbuttoned his tailored suit jacket, his cold, intimidating eyes never leaving Marco’s arrogant face. There was no background music, no ambient noise—only the terrifying, rhythmic breathing of the men surrounding the terrace.

"You think you can put your hands on me in my own home?" Alessio asked softly, his deep, raspy voice echoing with menace. "You think you can destroy my wife's memory and tell me to move on?"

Marco’s smirk widened, entirely blinded by his own fatal arrogance. He assumed Alessio’s quiet tone was a sign of hesitation. "Someone had to drag you into the present, Alessio. You've been soft ever since she died. Maybe it’s time for a leadership change."

Driven by the foolish belief that he could physically intimidate the veteran boss in front of the entire syndicate, Marco pulled his right arm back. His luxury wristwatch flashed in the sunlight as he swung a heavy, aggressive punch aimed squarely at Alessio’s jaw.

It was a catastrophic, suicidal miscalculation.

Alessio’s reflexes, honed by decades of brutal, unforgiving underworld survival, were lightning fast. He did not even raise his hands to block. With a fluid, deeply masculine tilt of his head, Alessio slipped seamlessly outside the incoming strike. Marco’s fist sailed harmlessly through the empty air over Alessio’s shoulder, the momentum throwing the younger associate entirely off balance and exposing his ribs.

Using Marco's forward momentum against him, Alessio planted his polished leather shoes firmly against the stone terrace. He twisted his hips, engaging the massive strength of his core, and drove one explosive, devastating counterpunch straight across Marco’s face.

The sickening crunch of shattering bone cracked through the garden like a rifle shot.

The sheer kinetic force of the blow lifted the forty-year-old man completely off his feet. Marco spun violently backward, utterly airborne, his arms flailing uselessly. He hurtled across the patio in a blur of expensive tailored fabric.

He crashed directly into the large rolling flower rack positioned near the greenhouse doors.

The collision was spectacular and utterly destructive. The heavy metal rack raced sideways on its wheels under the immense impact, slamming violently into two long wooden planting tables. The wooden frames buckled and snapped with a deafening screech. Dozens of heavy ceramic pots tumbled from the upper shelves, shattering into hundreds of jagged pieces across the stone floor. Woven gardening baskets flipped open, launching trowels and shears into the air. Rich, dark soil spilled like a landslide across the pristine terrace, burying the immediate area in dirt.

Marco crashed brutally beneath the collapsing wooden frames, disappearing under the avalanche of shattered ceramics and potting soil. He hit the ground with a heavy, wet thud and remained completely motionless, knocked unconscious instantly by the single, flawless strike. Blood began to pool on his fair skin, mixing darkly with the spilled earth.

No dialogue was spoken. The white American guests, the seasoned capos, and the heavily armed bodyguards stared in absolute, paralyzed horror. The veteran Mafia boss had just physically dismantled a senior associate in a matter of seconds, without breaking a sweat or raising his voice. Alessio lowered his fist, his breathing even, standing amidst the bright, vivid colors of the ruined garden as a terrifying monument of absolute power.
