Chapter 4

For three agonizing seconds, the only sound in the opulent ballroom was the sloshing of water as Garrett thrashed inside the ruined decorative fountain. The bright, vivid lighting caught the water droplets clinging to his soaked tuxedo, turning him into a pathetic, dripping spectacle. The fair, rosy skin of his face was now bruised and darkening rapidly where Alessia’s ring had struck his jaw.

"Garrett!" Evelyn finally screamed, her voice shattering the silence. She took a step forward but immediately froze when three of Alessia’s bodyguards shifted into her path, forming a human wall of dark suits.

Garrett roared in blind, humiliated fury. He scrambled to his feet, water cascading from his tailored trousers and ruined dress shirt. He climbed out of the shallow basin, his polished shoes slipping momentarily on the wet marble. His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and burning with a reckless, uncontrolled rage.

He charged at Alessia, pulling his arm back to deliver a wild, desperate swing aimed directly at her face.

"You bitch!" Garrett bellowed as he swung.

Alessia did not flinch. She possessed the trained, lethal reflexes of a woman who had fought for her crown in a world of violent men. As Garrett’s fist hurtled toward her, she simply slipped her head to the side, letting his wild swing pass harmlessly over her shoulder.

Using his own forward momentum against him, Alessia pivoted sharply on her heels. She drove a powerful, perfectly executed front kick directly into the center of his torso.

The impact forced the air from Garrett’s lungs in a loud, ragged wheeze. The kinetic energy of the strike launched him backward, his feet leaving the wet marble entirely. He shot across the floor like a ragdoll, hurtling toward the long silver banquet console that lined the edge of the ballroom.

He slammed into the console with devastating force.

The heavy piece of furniture folded and buckled beneath his weight. A deafening cacophony of destruction filled the room as the console collapsed. Silver serving trays, heavy domed lids, crystal flower vases, and dozens of polished utensils exploded into the air, scattering across the marble floor in a chaotic shower of metal and glass.

Garrett crashed into the center of the wreckage, buried beneath bent silver and shattered floral arrangements. He lay there, groaning, entirely broken by the swift, merciless sequence of violence.

Evelyn, seeing her son physically dismantled in a matter of seconds, immediately backed away. Her arrogant sneer had vanished, replaced by sheer, unadulterated terror. She pressed her back against a tall candle stand, her manicured hands trembling as she finally understood the true nature of the woman her son had married.

Alessia stood in the center of the destruction, her luxurious gown untouched, her breathing perfectly even. The room remained completely devoid of dialogue. The absolute authority she wielded was no longer an abstract concept; it was a physical, undeniable reality spread across the ruined banquet floor.
