Chapter 9

The grand foyer of the estate was a masterpiece of bright, cinematic lighting, but as Roman descended the sweeping marble staircase, the atmosphere was thick with the anticipation of slaughter. Dozens of white American bodyguards in tailored suits were taking up tactical positions behind marble pillars and overturned registration tables, their assault rifles raised and ready.

"They breached the outer courtyard, Boss," a lieutenant reported, crouching near the heavy mahogany front doors. "They are moving toward the main entrance."

Roman stood in the center of the foyer, completely exposed. He didn't crouch, and he didn't seek cover. His deeply masculine, intimidating presence anchored the morale of every man in the room. He raised his matte-black rifle, his cold eyes fixed on the massive front doors.

"Wait for my signal," Roman commanded, his voice echoing clearly across the vast space.

Outside, the crunch of heavy boots on gravel grew louder. The Petrov soldiers thought they were executing a surprise assault on a distracted, gala-fatigued household. They had no idea they were walking into a flawlessly orchestrated kill box.

Suddenly, a massive, deafening explosion rocked the front of the estate.

The heavy mahogany doors were blown entirely off their hinges, splintering inward in a spectacular shower of wood and brass. Smoke billowed into the bright, pristine foyer.

Through the smoke, heavily armed Petrov soldiers began to pour into the house, their weapons raised.

"Now," Roman whispered.

The foyer erupted into an apocalyptic symphony of gunfire.

Roman’s men unleashed a devastating crossfire. The Petrov soldiers, caught completely in the open, fell by the dozens. The bright, cinematic colors of the room were marred by the violent, chaotic flashes of muzzle fire.

Roman moved with terrifying, lethal precision. He fired in controlled, measured bursts, his sharply defined jawline locked in concentration. Every trigger pull was a calculated execution. He advanced slowly through the foyer, his polished leather shoes crunching over broken glass and splintered wood, entirely unfazed by the bullets impacting the marble pillars around him.

"Push them back!" Roman roared, his deep, raspy voice cutting through the deafening noise. "Do not let them reach the stairs!"

The bodyguards surged forward, inspired by their Boss’s fearless advance. The Petrov soldiers, realizing they had walked into a slaughterhouse, broke formation. Panic set in as they tried to retreat back through the ruined front doors.

But as they spilled out into the courtyard, the heavy iron front gates of the estate slammed shut behind them with a definitive, mechanical clang. They were trapped.

"Finish them," Roman ordered, stepping out onto the front portico, the cool night air mixing with the smell of gunpowder.

Within minutes, the courtyard fell silent. The remaining Petrov soldiers dropped their weapons and surrendered, dropping to their knees on the pristine driveway.

Roman stood at the top of the stone steps, his tailored suit completely untouched despite the chaos. He looked down at the defeated men, his cold, sharp eyes devoid of any mercy. He had sent a message that would echo through the underworld for decades.

"Boss," Marcus said, jogging up the steps, his face smeared with soot. "The courtyard is secure. We have survivors."

"Lock them in the stables," Roman commanded softly. "I will interrogate them later. I need to see my family."
