Chapter 12

The fiery destruction of their primary cover completely broke the morale of the Vale strike team. Deprived of their armor and disoriented by the blast, they were entirely exposed in the blinding light of the security floods.
"Push out!" Cyrus ordered over the comms, his voice echoing with lethal authority.
The Langford operatives surged from the mansion, swarming the surviving mercenaries with ruthless, synchronized efficiency. The firefight was over in less than three minutes. The invaders threw their weapons into the snow, dropping to their knees and surrendering to the overwhelming dominance of the mafia boss.
Cyrus walked through the burning wreckage of the front gates. The orange flames cast long, dancing shadows across his angular face. He stopped in front of the surviving mercenary commander, a fair-skinned man trembling violently on his knees.
"Did Marina Vale authorize this assault?" Cyrus asked, his volume incredibly low.
"Yes!" the commander choked out, his eyes wide with absolute terror. "She said you were weak! She said the estate was vulnerable because you were distracted by the boy!"
Cyrus’s jawline tightened. The sheer, blinding arrogance of his former fiancée was staggering. She had attempted to burn his home to the ground because her ego could not accept rejection.
"Will you deliver a message to Marina's father for me?" Cyrus asked, slowly raising his weapon.
"Yes! Anything!"

"Tell him," Cyrus murmured, "that I am coming for his empire."
He didn't wait for a response. Cyrus executed the commander flawlessly, ending the immediate threat and officially declaring a total, uncompromising war against the Vale syndicate.
