Chapter 4

The crisp, natural sunlight continued to pour into the room, creating a stark, vivid contrast to the suffocating tension. Alexander stood up slowly, bringing Sofia with him. He moved with a terrifying, deliberate calmness.

"Let go of the apron, Sofia," Alexander instructed, his voice gentle only for her.

With precise, steady movements, Alexander reached behind his three-year-old daughter. He untied the humiliating, starched white apron that Veronica had forced her to wear. He pulled the garment away, holding it in his tattooed hand as if it were a diseased rag.

Alexander then shrugged off his expensive, tailored suit jacket. He wrapped the heavy, dark fabric carefully around Sofia’s small shoulders, entirely covering the rest of the degrading maid uniform. The jacket swallowed her tiny frame, providing an immediate, physical shield of his protection.

"Stand behind me," Alexander whispered. He gently guided Sofia to stand directly behind his legs, safely removing her from the line of fire.

Veronica watched this silent, methodical process, her arms still folded. "You are overreacting, Alexander. It was a simple punishment. If we are going to build a life together, you have to let me discipline her."

Alexander did not speak. He slowly turned his head toward the wooden shoe-polishing stool resting on the floor.

"Alexander?" Veronica asked, her American accent finally cracking with genuine apprehension. She took a step toward them, her high heels clicking nervously. "What are you doing?"

Without a single word, Alexander reached down and grabbed the heavy wooden shoe-polishing stool by one of its thick legs. He gripped it with one heavily tattooed hand, his muscles coiling tightly beneath his unbuttoned dress shirt.

He didn't yell. He didn't scream. The explosion of violence was completely silent, which made it infinitely more terrifying.

Alexander pivoted on his polished leather shoe, his jaw locked, and forcefully drove the solid wooden stool directly into Veronica’s massive, custom-built designer shoe rack.

The impact was catastrophic. The deafening crash shattered the quiet of the bright, cinematic room. The heavy wooden frame of the rack buckled and collapsed under the sheer, brutal force of the strike. Dozens of incredibly expensive, delicate designer shoes exploded outward, scattering violently across the pristine marble floor. Stilettos, pumps, and flats rained down in a chaotic, colorful avalanche.

Veronica shrieked, throwing her hands up to protect her face as pieces of splintered wood and glittering shoes skittered across the floor, stopping inches from her toes. She recoiled in absolute shock, her mouth agape, her fair and rosy skin drained of all color.

Alexander stood amidst the wreckage, holding the splintered leg of the wooden stool. His chest heaved once. His cold, sharp eyes burned with a lethal fire as he stared at the woman he had almost married. There was absolutely no dialogue. The silence in the room was heavier than a tomb.
