Chapter 12

The Capital Grille was a masterpiece of architectural brilliance, filled with the city's political and legal elite. The room hummed with the sophisticated chatter of wealthy patrons, their sharp American accents blending into a veil of arrogant security. Elias Vance sat near the center, a man with fair, rosy cheeks and a confident, determined smile. He believed he was entirely untouchable. He was profoundly mistaken. The heavy double doors of the restaurant swung open, and the atmosphere plummeted to absolute freezing. Archer Langford stepped into the bright, cinematic light. He did not bring an army; he brought only Marcus and one massive bodyguard. Archer moved through the crowd with the terrifying, fluid grace of an apex predator. The wealthy politicians instinctively parted for him, completely paralyzed by the sheer, deeply masculine aura of absolute danger he projected. He walked directly up to Elias Vance. The prosecutor's smile vanished entirely, his rosy complexion draining to a sickly white. "Langford," Vance gasped, taking a nervous step backward. "You cannot be here. I am a federal agent." Archer did not raise his voice. "I am here. Mr. Vance."

"We are going to have a private conversation," Archer commanded softly, his volume incredibly low but carrying immense, undeniable weight. He gestured with his tattooed hand toward the VIP lounge at the back of the restaurant. Vance looked around desperately for his security detail, but his agents had already been quietly neutralized and replaced by Archer's elite operators. Trembling violently, the prosecutor walked into the soundproof VIP room. Archer followed, the heavy oak door clicking shut behind them, sealing the federal agent in a luxurious tomb. The room was bathed in crisp, neutral white light, casting sharp shadows across Archer’s angular face and high-bridged nose. "You authorized the raiding of my ports," Archer stated, his dead, unblinking eyes locking onto Vance. "It is federal law!" Vance stammered, attempting to muster a shred of false bravado. "You are a criminal, Langford! I will see your entire syndicate dismantled!" Archer didn't flinch. He slowly reached into the inner pocket of his tailored suit jacket. He withdrew a sleek, encrypted flash drive and tossed it casually onto the glass coffee table between them. "Open it," Archer whispered.
