Chapter 8

The estate was a fortress of silent, lethal efficiency. As Rocco stepped back out into the vivid, brightly lit corridors of the residential wing, he found his head housekeeper and the estate’s chief of security waiting for him outside Noah’s door. They were both white American adults, their fair faces pale with anxiety, fully aware that a catastrophic breach of trust had occurred under their watch.

"Mr. Bellandi," the head housekeeper, a woman in her late fifties, began, her voice trembling slightly. "I swear to you, we had no idea. Miss Bianca dismissed the nanny hours ago. She told us she was handling the boy's bedtime routine herself. She threatened to fire any staff member who came upstairs."

Rocco did not raise his voice. He stared at her with cold, penetrating eyes.

"You allowed a woman who is not blood... to dictate the security and care... of my son," Rocco stated, the slow, controlled pauses turning the observation into a damning accusation. "You are relieved of your duties. Pack your belongings. You will be escorted off the property by sunrise."

The housekeeper opened her mouth to argue, but the sheer, intimidating presence of the Mafia boss silenced her instantly. She bowed her head and hurried away, tears stinging her eyes.

Rocco turned his attention to his chief of security. "Have you swept her rooms?"

"Yes, Boss," the security chief replied, his American accent crisp and professional. "We tore the guest suite apart. We found a secondary, encrypted burner phone hidden in her luggage. Our tech guys cracked it ten minutes ago."

Rocco’s extremely short, neatly trimmed beard shifted as his jaw clenched. "And?"

"She wasn't just abusing the boy for fun, Rocco," the chief explained, handing over a printed transcript of the decrypted messages. "She was acting on orders. The messages detail a psychological profile they were trying to build on the kid. They wanted to see if they could break him, to prove that your bloodline was weak."

Rocco snatched the papers from the man’s hands. The bright, cinematic lighting of the hallway illuminated the damning text. His cold eyes scanned the words, the fury inside him hardening into a dark, impenetrable ice.

"Who is she communicating with?" Rocco asked, his voice a deadly, quiet rumble.

"The contact is listed under an alias, but the encryption keys match the routing protocols used by the Moretti family," the chief said, referencing one of Rocco’s oldest, most bitter rival syndicates. "She was planted, Boss. The engagement, the charm... it was a long-term play. They wanted to embed her in your house, break the heir, and gather intelligence for a strike."

Rocco looked down at the family signet ring on his hand. The betrayal was profound, wrapping around his home like a venomous snake. He had invited the enemy into his inner sanctum, allowed her to sleep in his bed, and most unforgivably, allowed her to lay hands on his son.

"Gather the capos," Rocco ordered softly, tearing the transcript perfectly in half. "Tell them to arm the men. We are locking down the city tonight."

"And the woman?" the security chief asked, nodding toward the distant hallway where Bianca was still being held.

"I will handle her... personally," Rocco whispered, the deep, masculine threat in his voice promising absolute devastation. He turned on his polished leather shoes, walking with terrifying, purposeful strides back toward the upholstered bench where his former fiancée awaited her judgment.
