Chapter 5

The bright, cinematic light of the hallway offered absolutely no shadows for Bianca to hide behind. Rocco stood between his terrified son and his fiancée like an impenetrable wall of dark wool and lethal intent. His jaw was locked so tightly that the muscles twitched visibly beneath his fair, rosy skin.

"Rocco, you have to believe me," Bianca pleaded, her eyes wide as she desperately reached for Noah a second time, her diamond bracelets clinking loudly in the tense silence. "He's just having a night terror!"

Rocco’s reaction was explosive, violent, and executed with the flawless, terrifying precision of a veteran street enforcer.

He didn't raise his voice. He didn't issue a warning.

As Bianca’s hands lunged toward his son, Rocco’s massive right hand shot out. He caught the fabric of her elegant formal dress right at the collarbone. With a sudden, devastating display of raw physical power, Rocco tore Bianca away from the space near his child.

"Get your hands off him," Rocco snarled, his voice a low, guttural vibration that shook the very air in the corridor.

He didn't just pull her; he forcefully hurled her backward. The sheer, masculine force behind the throw lifted Bianca’s feet entirely out of her high heels. She flew backward through the bright hallway, completely out of control.

With a heavy, breathless thud, Bianca crashed violently onto an upholstered hallway bench positioned against the far wall. The impact knocked the wind out of her lungs instantly. She collapsed against the expensive velvet fabric, her elegant dress tangled around her legs, her diamond earrings swinging wildly as she gasped for air.

There was absolutely no dialogue. The silence that followed the crash was absolute, thick, and suffocating.

The heavy, rhythmic sound of polished leather shoes broke the quiet. From the shadows of the stairwell and the adjacent corridors, the estate’s security apparatus responded to the sudden violence. Two massive, white American bodyguards stepped forward simultaneously. They were dressed in immaculate dark suits, their fair faces set in expressions of cold, professional lethality. They moved with silent military precision, immediately flanking Rocco, their hands resting ominously near the lapels of their jackets.

Noah whimpered softly from behind Rocco’s legs. Rocco reached a hand backward, resting it gently on the three-year-old's head, keeping the boy safely shielded from the ugly reality unfolding in front of them.

Bianca clutched her chest, her rosy cheeks entirely drained of color, leaving her looking sickly and pale under the bright, vivid lights. She looked up at the towering, intimidating figure of the Mafia boss she had foolishly believed she could manipulate.

"Rocco... please," Bianca wheezed, her voice shaking uncontrollably as she stared at the two bodyguards standing at attention beside him. "You're... you're overreacting. We are getting married. I am going to be his mother."

Rocco stared down at her, his cold, penetrating eyes completely devoid of mercy, warmth, or forgiveness. The romantic facade of their engagement had been violently shattered, leaving only the ruthless, uncompromising reality of the Bellandi empire.
