Chapter 34

The lieutenant looked up, his fair skin draining of all color. He scrambled backward, dropping the empty gun. "Blackwell! It was a business transaction! We just wanted what was rightfully ours!"
"Is threatening my family... considered a legitimate business transaction?" Ethan inquired smoothly, lowering his rifle.
"I wouldn't have hurt them!" the man shrieked, holding his hands up defensively. "I just needed the ransom! Please, we surrendered!"
Ethan looked at the trembling traitor. He felt absolutely no mercy. The man had willingly orchestrated a plot to terrorize his wife in broad daylight.
"Does surrender excuse high treason?" Ethan asked quietly. "My family is waiting for me at home. You are merely an infection."
He didn't wait for an answer. Ethan drew a sleek, suppressed pistol from his tactical vest and fired a single, flawless shot. The bullet struck the lieutenant perfectly in the chest, ending the traitor's life instantly. Ethan holstered the weapon, his focus instantly shifting.
"Is the warehouse secure, Marcus?" he asked over the comms.

"All hostiles are neutralized, Boss," Marcus reported. "The perimeter is ours."
"Burn the building to the ground," Ethan commanded, his voice returning to a low, lethal hum as he turned to leave the bloodstained office. "Let the ashes send the final message to anyone who dares to cross the Blackwell syndicate." The absolute war was finally over.
