Chapter 24

"Lucy told me what happened," Claire said softly, looking up into his intense, fiercely devoted eyes. "She said you were incredible." "Lucy proved her loyalty today," Ethan murmured, resting his tattooed hand gently against Claire's cheek. "She is a formidable asset. But you, Claire... you are the heart of this empire." He led her out onto the grand stone balcony. The cool night air was refreshing, carrying the faint, distant sounds of the city they completely controlled. Heavily armed, immaculate bodyguards patrolled the perimeter below, shadows of lethal protection ensuring that no threat would ever breach their sanctuary again. "We survived the dark, Ethan," Claire smiled, resting her head against his shoulder. Her custom-cut diamond ring caught the moonlight. "We didn't just survive," Ethan whispered, his deep voice a low, vibrating hum of absolute certainty and terrifying promise. "We conquered. And as long as I have breath in my lungs, our family will never have to fear the shadows again." He pulled her close, kissing her deeply under the stars. The monsters were dead, the traitors were buried, and the Blackwell reign was eternal.
