Chapter 16

The subterranean cellar of the Blackwell estate was a masterclass in psychological sensory deprivation. The heavy iron door remained sealed, blocking out the cinematic, bright light of the mansion above. Vanessa Hart sat on the freezing concrete floor of the rusted iron cage, her once-sculpted satin evening gown now a filthy, shredded rag. Her fair, rosy skin was covered in soot and grime, her aristocratic arrogance completely shattered by days of absolute, deafening silence. The heavy lock clicked, echoing like a gunshot. Ethan Blackwell stepped into the dark void, holding a powerful tactical flashlight. He wore a crisp, unbuttoned white dress shirt, the artistic, negative-space tattoos on his chest and neck projecting an aura of terrifying, deeply masculine power. He did not bring food or water. He brought only the crushing weight of his presence. "Ethan," Vanessa wept, crawling toward the bars, her voice a pathetic, broken rasp. "Please. I can't survive down here." "My wife survived for months," Ethan murmured, his deep, raspy voice utilizing terrifying, controlled pauses. "Did you believe your endurance... would rival hers?" He stared down at her with cold, unblinking eyes, devoid of any human empathy.
