Chapter 6

The silence in the opulent dining hall was deafening, save for the soft, continuous weeping of the mother finally holding her stolen child. The fifty guests, capos, and relatives remained paralyzed in their velvet dining chairs, the festive Christmas Eve dinner completely obliterated by the exposure of a monstrous crime.

Tristan did not break his cold, unwavering stare from Sabine. He raised his hand, the signet ring catching the light from the crystal chandeliers, and made a single, subtle gesture.

"Clear the room," Tristan commanded, his deep voice echoing across the gilded wall panels. "Everyone who does not carry the Blackwell name, or work in my personal security detail, will vacate this hall immediately."

Chairs scraped frantically against the cream marble floor. The elite guests, eager to escape the blast radius of the mafia boss's impending wrath, scrambled to their feet. They abandoned their gold-rimmed porcelain plates and half-empty crystal glasses, rushing toward the massive double doors in a terrified, uncoordinated herd. No one dared to speak. No one dared to look back.

Within ninety seconds, the sprawling room was entirely empty of guests. The only people remaining were Tristan, Clara, holding the infant Eli, Sabine, and the two heavily armed bodyguards standing near the cream marble columns.

"You are making a catastrophic mistake, Tristan," Sabine whispered, her voice shaking as the reality of her isolation set in. The polished public manner had completely disintegrated. "My father is a senator. He will send the federal marshals to your gates. You cannot touch me."

"Do you think a corrupt politician cares more about a ruined daughter than he cares about his own survival?" Tristan asked slowly, taking a measured step toward her.

"I am his blood!" Sabine shrieked, backing away until her spine hit the edge of the carved walnut table.

"And this child is mine," Tristan countered, his voice a lethal rumble. "You bribed clinical staff. You falsified medical records. You attempted to steal the heir of this syndicate and force the mother into lifelong servitude while you played the savior. Did you truly believe you would survive the discovery of such treason?"

"I did it for the family!" Sabine cried desperately, her diamond earrings swinging. "She is a nobody! A maid with a rumpled apron and a pathetic, exhausted face! She brings nothing to this alliance! I was willing to raise the bastard as my own to protect your reputation!"

"You did it because you are a barren, jealous creature who craves power you cannot organically create," Tristan stated with brutal, surgical precision.

He turned his head slightly, addressing the two bodyguards who were standing nervously near the Christmas tree.

"Are you men employed by the senator, or are you employed by the Blackwell syndicate?" Tristan asked, his dark eyes locking onto the towering figures.

The two guards—the Black American and the white American—exchanged a rapid, panicked glance.

"We are paid by the syndicate, Boss," the white American guard answered quickly, his voice tight with fear.

"Then you will apprehend this woman," Tristan ordered, his authority absolute. "If you hesitate, you will share her fate."
